The Clear Signal was brought to life in 2024 as a radio show in the first instance and was made available to the community and streaming markets in Australia. It was an interesting experiment and one designed as a personal challenge to move beyond my traditional journalistic areas of aviation and defence, and to expand my media profile somewhat.

There were many lessons learned - all of them good.

One of the challenges I would often find in creating these interviews was having to either truncate or edit them down in order to fit the required time slot. That's how radio works; it's how it has to work. But in the latter stages of 2024, particularly around the time of the US elections, podcasting seemed to really find it's way as a major media platform. People understand the concept far better now than they did in the early days, and this creates opportunities for long-time producers in that market to present content with guests who were once really only willing to appear in the co-called "mainstream media"

To that end, and after a considerable period of contemplation, I've decided this year to bring the show back, but this time as a podcast in the first instance.

I love talk radio. It was the medium that inspired me to pursue journalism, and it is not my intention to turn my back on it. Once I have a good sized library of interviews in this 2025 series completed, I'll look to re-package them for radio and we'll see if there's an appetite in the market for them once again. I sincerely hope so.

I offer my heartfelt thanks to those stations who ran The Clear Signal in 2024. I consider it a privilege to have been a small part of your schedules each week, and you helped me to live out a long-held ambition. I hope we can do so again in the near future.

Meantime, the journey continues....
